THE EVIDENCE OF LIFE - mainly downstairs - at Lanhydrock inspired Jack Gillespie to seek out those who had enabled the smooth running of the big house, now in the care of the National Trust, near Bodmin.  Interviews with people who had worked there led Jack to explore wider fields.

Reminiscences of workers in traditional Cornish occupations connected with the sea, farming, tin, china clay mining, and others provide a rich seam of social history.
